Qwerty wrote:Sigh, You're all misunderstanding the point I'm trying to make. It's not UC's realism that's overstated but the AU's unrealism that's overstated. It's probably most obvious in CE where one moment the setting's tech doesn't seem any more out there than UC OYW then suddenly the Freedom Gundam appeared and made an Earth/Moon trip in 3hrs and fly (yet apparently can't provide enough acceleration to make it out of the atmosphere on it's own) and then a bunch of new Gundams appear and gain the unexplained ability to just completely fly, not psedoflight/groundskimming/dashing that the Strike was doing, but actual flying, and it just kinda keeps piling on from there.įor the most part they aren't much less "realistic", but they very noticeably are, though I'm sure we see similar things at various points in UC too, but they're probably the exception rather than the norm thanks to UC's age and length.

I don't think the problem is realism so much as consistency, the two more or less go hand in hand in aiding suspension of disbelief though. 00 is like a less crazy and more consistent version of Wing, at least the first season anyway, the Gundam's overpowered abilities are fairly well explained and don't go completely off their rocker (Until the second season). SEED started out probably a good bit better than MSG in realism, however we all know how that venture ended up. Wing, despite how much I still love it (And I'm not just talking nostalgia goggles here) basically made no real attempt to be realistic or consistent, though having recently rewatched bits of it I should say that it's really not all that bad on this and OZ is way more competent than it gets credit for being but that still doesn't explain flamethrowers in space, the buster rifle(s) capabilities, the unexplained ability of the Gundam's to seemingly fly all over the world and never have to deal with fuel, etc.

REALISTIC GUNDAM COCKPIT SERIES

It's not ''Gundam isn't realistic at all", It's the silly idea that UC Gundam series somehow MORE realistic than AU Gundam series like Wing, Seed and 00. I don't understand why some folks try to blur these gap by counter explaning the very unrealistic feature of 20m tall giant robots aspect from the real robo genre, and make the two different shows somewhat just about the same similar silly robo show. Controling mechanism apart, how could you justify a mecha that pulls out a giant beam tomahawk from its shoulder and cut Jupiter in half? For sure there'a a gap between the two show.

to Dendrobium limited ability as glorified weapon containers.Ī quick recall already enough to provide me with the additional realism factor: The first time we seen the ammo loading process into the MS head for vulcan, the limited vision from the non-360 pano screen, limited ammo per clip 20-25-30 in comparison with the size of the bullets, clip and rifle, somewhat realistic thruster assisted jump when gp01 face the Komusai, South Burning using the hand pointer to plan their attack on the interactive map, the use of realistic targeting system / HUD, the use of paint bullets for practice, the screen fix targeting mechanism in direct correlation with vulcan aiming system, the difficulties of landing mechanism for a core fighter to floating Albion, the maintenance settings for the GM cannon that just opens up all the additional layers for quick access, the cockpit glass of the core fighter present on gp01 cockpit behind the torso hatch door it's somehow disappear on the original MSG, Kou using the auto search frequency to hail Gp02, how to perform reverse using the hand levers, Gato adjust the beam saber output power by a drag switch, and Keith programmed a useless (hahaha) hotkey to make his MS' hand to perform the V for victory hand signalĬompare above to the other like Zeta, CCA, and F-91, that only contribute to air leak, general aiming mechanism with auto function, and how to quick reload your empty gun by simply double tap the attack button.Īnd we could compare that above to Super Robo Show like the Shin Getter Robo. Because it adds so much detailed information about MS controls compared to other show.įrom details like the opening raid happened with only limited numbers of MS, 2 rick doms and 1 xamel. Ironically, the overall most realistic Gundam show is the one with the most unrealistic storyline (0083 Stardust Memory).

It doesn't strike me as the most realistic gundam show. 08th MS Team "realism" claim comes mostly from the few combat choreography which portray a real skilled ACE.
